The HDL at the Publishing for Historians workshop, 9 February 2017

The Publishing for Historians event, organised by the Institute and the Royal Historical Society (RHS), brought together historians, publishers and 100 early career researchers to discuss first steps in scholarly publishing.

One session, led by Professor Simon Newman (Glasgow) and Professor Penny Summerfield (Manchester), considered Open Access publishing and introduced the Humanities Digital Library as a new resource for history monographs. Simon and Penny are co-convenors of the ‘New Historical Perspectives’ series, run by the Royal Historical Society, whose titles will be published as open access on the new platform from late 2017.

Further information on ‘New Historical Perspectives’, and how to submit a proposal to the RHS, is available on our Partnerships page. February’s London conference was the third in a series of workshops for early career historians, following similar meetings in Glasgow and Leeds. The IHR and RHS hope to run similar conferences across the country during 2017.
